updated: 16 August 2025, Wellington (we've had three days of sunshine after days of rain and hail) ## celebrations and remembrance I've had a lot of reasons to celebrate the past few weeks: - My birthday on 31 July - Martin's birthday on 1 August - Third anniversary of Martin's passing on 11 August. I wrote [this short essay](https://lafisal.medium.com/three-bf6c41a0f38a) to mark the third year. ## play I've been playing a lot the past few weeks. My wheel is outside and because we are in the middle of winter, it's been too cold to throw outside unless the sun is out. So I've been playing around with a lot of hand building, including adding things to wheel thrown pots. ![[fella with flowers.jpeg]] ![[pitchers.jpeg]] ![[candle stick holders.jpeg]] ![[Houses on the hill 1.jpg]] I'm inspired to do more of these as they were a lot of fun to make. ## workshops Unfortunately nobody signed up for my first making session to make a cup and saucer. However, somebody contacted me directly to say they were interested but couldn't make the date. They wanted to come with the whole family of five. Now I've organised a private session for them in a couple of weeks. I then thought a Paint-A-Mug session would be interesting to time it as painting a mug for Father's Day. And I have two bookings for that. Admittedly, they are from my good friends and neighbour.
