updated: 21 May 2026, Wellington, New Zealand ## Advanced Wheel Class Last month I signed up to an Advanced Wheel Class with [Jennifer Turnbull](https://www.instagram.com/jailhousepottery/) I haven't been in an in-person class for more than a year. The class focuses on large bowls of all sorts. On the first day, we threw six bowls ranging from 1kg to 1.4kg balls of clay. The second time we threw, we made a berry bowl, large colander and a set of nesting bowls. The largest of the nesting bowl was thrown with 2.4kg of clay. I believe that was the largest I've ever thrown. They were trimmed last Monday, and they indeed nest inside each other. In between the weekly classes I've been practicing at home. Very pleased with these pasta bowls. Perfect for pasta and noodles. And they stack nicely too! ![[IMG_9545.jpeg]] ![[Pasta bowl.png]] Then I also made large blates (bowl plates). Jenny calls these restaurant plates as they are usually wide and shallow.
